About the series:
The Battle of Blood Mountain is an annual rotating cup between the Young Harris College and the University of North Georgia athletic departments, as the two schools are geographically two of the closest members of the Peach Belt Conference - only 42 miles apart - and have a natural rivalry as NCAA Division II member schools.

Blood Mountain is the highest peak on the Georgia section of the Appalachian Trail and is the midpoint between the Young Harris and North Georgia. Blood Mountain is the sixth highest mountain in Georgia with an elevation of 4,458 feet and is located on the border of Lumpkin and Union counties and is within the boundaries of the Chattahoochee National Forest and the Blood Mountain Wilderness area.

Scoring:
For each of the 11 sports that both schools sponsor, there will be one annual point awarded to the school that wins the majority of contests in that particular sport in a given season. If teams only play once, the team that claims the regular season contest will earn the point. If teams play twice, a team must win both contests to win the point. If in a two-game season teams split the series, each team will be awarded a half point. In a three-game season, teams must win the series to earn the point. If UNG and YHC play each other in PBC conference tournament and/or NCAA postseason play, those contests will be added to the competition totals. Season points will not be awarded until the completion of the respective sport's PBC championship tournament or NCAA regional to allow for any tournament or postseason competitions to be added.

Eligible sports (11):
Men's soccer, women's soccer, women's cross country, men's basketball, women's basketball, baseball, softball, men's golf, women's golf, men's tennis and women's tennis. A school must earn 6 of the 11 points to win the cup. In case of a tie, the team holding the trophy will retain the cup - similar to golf's Ryder Cup format.

Reward:
The school that wins the annual competition will get to house the trophy for the next academic calendar year. The athletics director of the losing school will be required to wear the opposing school's colors while presenting the trophy to the winning school at an on-campus event of the winner's choice.
