Madison Urquiola begins her second year as the Assistant Director of Athletics for External Operations at Young Harris College.
Urquiola is responsible for providing strategic vision for all external operations in the athletics department. This includes relationship building, selling corporate sponsorships and VIP ticket sales. Additional responsibilities include developing athletics department marketing and brand strategy initiatives, social/digital media and arranging special events.
Urquiola had been the college's assistant sports information director since August 2021. While in that role, she assisted with all publicity and social media for the department. Urquiola was responsible for maintaining statistics and records for the Mountain Lions while writing press releases and assisting with the department's website.
Urquiola was also instrumental in the department's first-ever Mountain Lion Day of Giving. She helped organize, plan and promote the Day of Giving which raised nearly $12,000 in February. She created the department's Cubs Club for kids.
During her time with the softball program, Urquiola competed in four Peach Belt Conference tournaments, four regional tournaments, two super regional tournaments, and the NCAA Division II National Championship.
Urquiola helped lead the Mountain Lions to a 175-70 record during her time in the Enchanted Valley.
Urquiola was a part of the 2019 Mountain Lion team that won the NCAA Division II Southeast Super Regional and finished as a national semifinalist at the NCAA Division II National Championship, where she was named to the all-tournament team.
Urquiola graduated with a bachelor's degree in communication studies and a double minor in sport studies and management. While at YHC, she maintained a spot on the dean's list and was a part of Lambda Pi Eta, the communication studies honor society. Urquiola is a member of the Rotary Club of Union County and serves as the co-chair of the public image committee.
